Big Second Half Sends No. 19 Randolph-Macon Past Bridgewater 70-55

ASHLAND, VA – No. 19 Randolph-Macon College ran its winning streak to 12 games with a 70-55 victory over visiting Bridgewater College in ODAC Men’s Basketball action Wednesday night.
R-MC (13-2 / 7-1 ODAC) was led in scoring by Justin Short and Jeremy Dixon who both had 14 points on the evening. David Carlson pitched in with 11 points as well. Dixon grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and Carlson grabbed nine boards to help R-MC to a 46-28 advantage for the game.
The Jackets found themselves down at half-time 24-22, and down 36-30 when BC’s Andrew Cathlin drained a three pointer with 13:39 to go in the game. R-MC responded with an 18-0 run over the next five minutes and took a 48-36 advantage when Jordan Brown sank a pair of free-throws.
The Eagles pulled within seven points at 50-43, but the Yellow Jackets reeled off 11 of next 13 points, extending their lead to 61-45 when Kevin Voelkel made a lay up with four minutes remaining.
BC (8-4 / 3-3 ODAC) was led by Michael Oblitey who had a game-high 17 points. BC made just 7-of-20 attempts from the three point line and 38.5% of their shots from the field for the game.
R-MC will hit the road to take on No. 16 Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Virginia Beach, Va.
