R-MC Golf Coach Ed Turnage Named PGA Mid-Atlantic Salesperson of the Year
ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon College head golf coach Ed Turnage was recently recognized as the Pro Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) 2007 Mid Atlantic Salesperson of the Year.
The award bestows special recognition on a golf salesperson in the Mid-Atlantic region for his or her outstanding service and dedication to the members and apprentices of the MAPGA, as well as support of the section through sponsorships and other programs.
“It’s a real honor to have been selected by the Mid-Atlantic PGA as salesperson of the year from over 200 candidates,” said Turnage. I respect the golf professional for the multiple tasks they perform on a day-to day-basis. I have tried to mold myself using the same work ethic as conveyed by the golf professionals I admire so much.”
In addition to his 30 years in the golf world, Turnage, who is a graduate of R-MC, returned to the Yellow Jacket family in September, taking over the reigns of the successful Randolph-Macon golf program.
Turnage got his start in the business when he accepted a job with golf manufacturer Colgate after the company purchased RAM GOLF in the early 1970s. During is 30+ years of service, Turnage has been named salesperson of the year by many different companies including Pro Shoe Inc. (1982), Pickering Shirt Co. (1983 & 1985), Sterling Cut Glass (1986 & 198), Mill Golf Inc. (1987 & 1989), Haas Jordan Umbrella (1990) and Gean-Edwards Socks (1993).
