ASHLAND, Va. ---Randolph-Macon’s Monica Jenkins scored two goals and goalkeeper Ashley Crouch made seven second-half saves as they helped the fourth-seeded Yellow Jackets to a 4-2 victory over fifth-seeded Roanoke College in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament.
R-MC (7-10) got on the board 7:52 into the match when Nicole Klee set up Jenkins for her first strike of the match. The Jackets would take a 2-0 lead into the intermission after Lindsay Walker scored with just under two minutes left in the first-stanza.
Jenkins struck again just over four minutes into the second-half when she beat RC keeper Lindsey Paz with a high arching shot to give R-MC a 3-0 lead.
RC (3-11) cut the deficit to 3-1 when Heater Paul received a pass from Liz Hudson and beat Crouch with 19 minutes left in the match.
R-MC responded 1:15 later when Walker set up Mary McCarthy for her fourth goal of the season and a 4-1 Yellow Jacket lead.
Crouch finished with eight saves on the afternoon while Paz made 17 stops in a losing effort for Roanoke.
R-MC will head to Harrisonburg, Va. on Wednesday where it will take on top-seeded Eastern Mennonite in the semifinals at a time to be determined.
