Jenkins’ Overtime Strike Sends R-MC Filed Hockey past Virginia Wesleyan 2-1
Virginia Beach, VA – Monica Jenkins’ goal just under three minutes into overtime lifted the Randolph-Macon Field Hockey team past Virginia Wesleyan 2-1 Wednesday afternoon in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The win is the second straight for R-MC which now stands at 5-8 overall and 3-3 in ODAC player. The Marlins drop to 3-11 on the year and 2-4 in the league.
After a scoreless first-half, R-MC jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Nicole Klee with 16:22 left in the match. VWC then got the equalizer with eight minutes left when Kimberly Berger scored to tie the game at 1-1.
Ashley Crouch made 10 saves in the cage for R-MC which out shot VWC 16-14 for the match.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday when it will take on Roanoke College at 3:00 p.m. in Ashland.
