Dixon’s Hat Trick Sends Randolph-Macon Field Hockey Past Roanoke 5-0
ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon’s Jill Dixon scored three goals and added an assist as the Yellow Jackets knocked off visiting Roanoke College 5-0 in ODAC field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
R-MC (6-8 / 4-3 ODAC) out shot the Maroons 38-5 and held a 22-4 advantage in penalty corners over RC (3-10 / 2-5 ODAC). Dixon got the scoring going when she deflected a Caitlin Titsworth shot from the top of the pasat by RC keeper Lindsey Paz to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead, 12:35 into the match.
Katie DeJarnette doubled the R-MC lead at the 25:33 mark and then Dixon added her second goal of the match 2:11 later when she took a crossing pass from Lindsey Walker and beat Paz for the goal to make the score 3-0 at the intermission.
Dixon put the game away with 25 minutes left in the match when she scored off a pass from Nicole Klee, then returned the favor when she set up Klee up for a score with 16 minutes remaining.
Ashley Crouch picked up the shut out for the Jackets, making three saves in the victory. Paz made 27 saves in a losing effort for RC.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Sunday when it travels to St. Mary’s for a 1:00 p.m. match.
