After the Royals scored two quick runs in their first at bat, R-MC(12-7 / 5-0 ODAC) responded with three runs of its own in the home half of the first inning. RBI singles by Mike Wallace and JC Conway highlighted the inning that ended with the Jackets ahead 3-2.
Wallace pushed the Randolph-Macon lead to 5-2 in the third inning when he belted a two run, opposite field homer that also scored Charlie Hartt.
After a Greg Meleski RBI double in the fourth inning made the score 6-2, the Yellow Jackets blew the game open with back-to-back three run innings in the fifth and the sixth to go up 12-2.
Kurt Breitmeyer picked up the win to even his record at 1-1 on the season. The southpaw went 5.0 innings, allowed two runs on three hits and struck out four. Steve Craun, Wes Harlow and Nick Simons came out of the Jackets bullpen and combined to allow just one hit in four innings of work.
