2009 Entrepreneur Achievement Award Winner Pepper Laughon '59 |
The Randolph-Macon College Board of Associates is accepting nominations for the Entrepreneur Achievement Award, which is presented annually. The award was established to recognize highly successful R-MC alumni who transform a vision into a viable and sustainable business enterprise. Award recipients demonstrate the ability to envision a unique or highly improved concept and bring that concept to an extraordinary outcome. This award was established in 2009. The College’s Board of Associates oversees the selection of recipients based on nominations received. The first recipient to receive the Entrepreneur Achievement Award was Frank E. “Pepper” Laughon Jr. ’59. He is chairman and CEO of Richmond Cold Storage, a company that operates twelve refrigerated and dry storage warehouses along the Mid-Atlantic States. He is also founder and president of Flare Corporation, an international consulting firm for refrigerated warehousing and distribution. Laughon is also very active at R-MC and serves on the Board of Trustees, Student Affairs Committee, the Athletic Committee and as Chair of the Greek Alumni Advisory Board. In 2003, he and his wife Stuart established the Pepper and Stuart Laughon Commitment to Community Award, which is presented annually to an R-MC student organization or individual making significant
