Dr. Franssen is a National Science Foundation Teaching and Research Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Psychology Department. After completing her undergraduate degree majoring in Psychology at R-MC she went on to earn her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from The University of Chicago. And, in case you haven’t seen Professor Lowry beaming with pride this semester, yes, Catherine is his daughter. For many reasons, we’re thrilled to have Dr. Franssen back at R-MC teaching and conducting research with our students. Please help me welcome her by attending her research talk on her dissertation work exploring the importance of olfactory cues in the animal world. Refreshments will be served.

Research Day Event
FYE 153-154 Exceptional Musicians
11:30 am
St. Anne’s Church
Can someone who is deaf become the greatest musical composer of all time?
Exceptional Musicians began with a simple premise—that exceptionality is a socially constructed phenomenon with both positive and negative aspects to it. Moving from there, students learned about the complex inputs and outputs of the brain, the colorful and often mystifying process of musical creativity, and the basic framework of twice exceptionality, an evolving cross-disciplinary theory that posits ability and disAbility as part of the makeup of all humans.
Light refreshments will be served afterwards. Please contact Jack Trammell (jtrammel@rmc.edu 804.752.7343) or Roger Reynolds (rreynolds@rmc.edu 804.752.3047) with questions or for more information.
