2/11/14Randolph-Macon College will present "The Loving Story" on February 19, 2014 at 7 p.m. in the SunTrust Theater, Brock Commons (304 Henry Street). Map and Directions
The History and Sociology Departments, along with the Office of Student Life, will celebrate Black History Month by screening the HBO documentary "The Loving Story."
The film chronicles the story of Mildred and Richard Loving, from Caroline County, Virginia, who could not live together as man and wife in Virginia because of laws forbidding interracial marriage. Their case led to a landmark Supreme Court ruling overturning the Old Dominion’s miscegenation laws. It is also a landmark in the history of civil rights in America.
Pizza will be served before the film, and a panel discussion will follow the film.
This event is free and open to the public. Please Note: Seating is limited to 100 seats and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
