This year's Modern Languages Forum will be held
on November 14.
Randolph-Macon College will host an international forum entitled “The Success Effect
of Being Bilingual” on November 14, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in Copley Science Center,
Room 100. This event, sponsored by the Modern
Languages Department, is free and open to the public.
This is R-MC’s third Modern Languages Forum, which each year includes representatives
from international companies located in the Richmond area who use foreign languages
in their careers.
This year’s guest speakers include the Chief Financial Officer of Allianz Global
Assistance, the Asset Management Director of Dominion Electric, the Director of
global supply chain for Best Bully Sticks, and panelists from Wells Fargo and Briya
Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. A reception will follow.
French Professor Sandrine Teixidor, chair of
R-MC’s Modern Languages Department, says that this year’s event will offer attendees
a window into the vast world of modern languages and international business.
“We’ve invited experts to discuss their perspectives on languages in the workplace
and in their personal lives,” says Teixidor. “This forum allows students to meet
and interact with the speakers after their presentations and hear about real-life
applications of foreign languages. It’s a terrific event, in which experts discuss
their roles within international organizations and focus on the opportunities foreign
languages have created for their careers.”
