Ian Browning on April 20, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in
Blackwell Auditorium, R-MC Center for the Performing Arts. This event is
free and open to the public.
Enjoy an exciting and eclectic concert combining classical, folk and popular music.
The Richmond Guitar Quartet is one of the most notable examples of classical crossover
musicians in our area.
The concert will focus on the many different ways that folk music has found its
way to the concert hall. Highlights include Bizet's Carmen Suite; Dave
Brubeck's Blue Rondo alla Turka; Stravinsky's Tango, and many
other new arrangements and compositions by Richmond area musicians.
Members of the Quartet include the Music Department's
adjunct instructor in guitar Andrew McEvoy, as well as Nathan Aldhizer, Leah Kruszewski,
and Ron Alig. Several selections feature collaboration with percussionist Ian Browning.
The group will also collaborate with R-MC classical guitar students on a short selection
to be performed during the concert. In addition, the quartet will have CDs available
This event is sponsored by the Committee on Assemblies and Special Events (CASE).
