The Randolph-Macon Music Faculty celebrated the
music of Igor Stravinsky on April 9, 2013 with a recital of works by the composer.
The recital featured works from various stages of Stravinsky's career, including
his Two Songs, Op. 6 (1910), the Suite Italienne for Cello and Piano (1932), as
well as Three Pieces for String Quartet (1914) and Tango (1940), both arranged for

The faculty performers include pianist James Doering, mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Eschen,
cellist Jason McComb, and guitarist Andrew McEvoy. They were joined by special guests
the Richmond Guitar Quartet.
This year marks the one-hundredth anniversary of Stravinsky's most famous piece—the
groundbreaking music for The Rite of Spring—and performances of his music are taking
place around the world.
