On March 3, 2013, the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jacket Cheerleaders and the Dance Team competed in the Eastern Cheer and Dance Association’s Capital City Extreme Championships at the Arthur Ashe Jr. Center in Richmond, Virginia. This competition crowns divisional champions, and teams can qualify for the U.S. Finals National Championship.
The Dance Team competed in the Variety/Collegiate division. For the second consecutive year, the team’s score earned them the Division Champions title, with an opportunity to compete for national ranking at the U.S. Finals.
The Cheerleaders competed in the Open Level 6 All-Girl Division. For the first time in R-MC cheerleading-team history, the cheerleaders earned the Division Champions title and a chance to compete for national ranking at the U.S. Finals.
“R-MC cheerleaders, dancers and coaches are thankful to our fans for their support,” says Susan Cassidy, who coaches the Cheerleaders and Dance Team. “We are especially grateful to President and Mrs. Lindgren for attending this tournament and cheering us on as we took the floor.”

Cassidy, in her 10th season with Randolph-Macon, is assisted by
Annamaria Diaz ’11. Cassidy is a former University of Pittsburgh Cheer captain with two National Cheerleading Association national championship titles. She has more than 30 years’ experience in dance instruction, choreography and competition at the local and national levels.
