Joanne Kong and James Weaver |
2/20/13
Randolph-Macon College will host musicians James Weaver and Joanne Kong on March 1, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Ann’s Performing Arts Building.
Baritone James Weaver and pianist Joanne Kong will present Franz Schubert’s famed song cycle,
Winterreise (Winter Journey).
The song cycle, based on 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller, depicts a passionate story of a lost love. Schubert’s music, composed in 1827, explores the emotional and psychological depths of Müller's poems, and in the process set a standard for song composition that remains unrivaled even today.
This concert is sponsored by the R-MC
Music program and the Committee on Assemblies and Special Events (CASE).
It is free and open to the public.
