Society of Alumni presented Harold Duke with an Honorary Alumnus award on February 6, 2013.
The award was presented at a reception in the Alumni Gymnasium that preceded the R-MC/Hampden-Sydney
basketball game.
Kerri Valentine ’82, SOA Board member, Board of Trustees member
Jack Luck ’64 and R-MC President Robert R. Lindgren presented the award.
The Awards Committee of the Society of Alumni honors friends of the college who have shown interest and affection for the college by giving of their time, talents, and resources to R-MC. Duke is one of Randolph-Macon’s most loyal patrons.
Duke, a native of Ashland, is a businessman in the Hanover County community. He attended R-MC briefly but left to serve in the military in the 1950s.
“Harold’s passion for Randolph-Macon is unsurpassed,” said Lindgren. “He is a loyal and consistent financial supporter of the college and an avid Yellow Jacket fan. He rarely misses a Randolph-Macon game. In fact, look up into the stands during any football or basketball game and you’re bound to see him in the same seat rooting for his beloved Yellow Jackets. I am honored to join Kerri, Jack, and the entire Randolph-Macon community in presenting Harold Duke the Honorary Alumnus award.”
