Randolph-Macon College’s Virginia Zeta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) Fraternity was named as one of the top 25 chapters in the nation with a Grade Point Average (GPA) exceeding the all-campus-average by more than 0.25 points. The chapter is also ranked as having the third highest GPA among the 17 chapters that make up SigEp’s Region 3 (DC, VA, NC).
“Congratulations to all the men of the chapter for their hard work and dedication,” says Randolph-Macon faculty advisor and member Ed Showalter ’84. “Congratulations to R-MC for creating an environment where these men can achieve so much.“ Showalter also teaches
economics/business classes and is the director of the R-MC Bassett Internship Program.
Honors were also bestowed on Virginia Zeta chapter President Keith “Ky” Hoang ’14 who was awarded a $1,000 Sigma Phi Epsilon National Competition Scholarship by the SigEp Educational Foundation. The Foundation awards annual scholarships to the top 20 undergraduate members in the country. This year, the recipients were selected from a pool of 16,000 applicants.
Hoang, from Chantilly, Virginia, is extremely gratified to receive this award and said, “I credit this generous award to not only the donors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Education Foundation, but also to my fraternity brothers who have pushed me to become the person I am today.”
“I am very proud of the leadership that Ky has brought to Sigma Phi Epsilon,” says Assistant Dean of Students James McGhee. “Ky truly deserves this honor which is reflective of his academic success and commitment to the values of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Fraternity and Sorority Life.”
Hoang is majoring in
economics/business and
arts management with a career aspiration in finance.
