10/22/12The Randolph-Macon College Franklin Debating Society will host the touring championship British debaters. The showcase event will be a public debate on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in Wash-Frank Hall.
The British team will debate R-MC students
Crystal Thomas ’13 and
Hayley Williamson ’13. The topic:
Be It Resolved That The United States should re-elect Barack Obama. Thomas is a
political science,
communication studies, and
philosophy major; Williamson is a
physics and
mathematics major.
This is a lively debate that encourages audience participation.
The Franklin Debating Society is coached by
English and Communication Studies Professor Ted Sheckels and Communication Studies Professor John Mingus.
This event is partially sponsored by the R-MC chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and partially supported by an anonymous gift to the Franklin Debating Society.
