“My Randolph-Macon College education has prepared me for future success in many ways,” says
accounting major
Courtney Wade ’12. “I have been unknowingly taking a communication class in every one of my R-MC classes. I didn't realize it until I recently went on interviews; when I talked to potential employers, I felt confident and assured. R-MC prepared me to communicate and get my thoughts across in a way that feels natural to me now.”
Macon MemoriesWade, a Glen Allen, Virginia native, counts a January Term (
J-term)
internship among her most memorable college experiences.
“This was an excellent opportunity, and one that I would recommend to everyone,” says Wade, who interned with Genworth Financial in Richmond, Virginia. As a finance intern, she created Excel templates and created mapping tables to help with the management of financial information.
“I still talk to the managers I worked for, and I list them as references on my résumé,” she says. “It was an amazing experience and one that I think every student should take advantage of.”
Wade encourages her peers to take advantage of the resources available to R-MC students.
“There is an unlimited amount of support here,” she says. “Whether it is my advisor, my professors, or the staff in the
Center for Career and Personal Development, everyone is ready to help me succeed.”
Future Plans Wade’s post-R-MC plans include a job, which she recently accepted, as an accountant at McKesson Medical-Surgical. Her advice for students considering R-MC reflects her Yellow Jacket pride.
“Come visit, look around,
take a tour, and sit in on a class,” she says. “Talk to current students, who are always happy to share their stories about why Randolph-Macon College is so special.”
