Randolph-Macon College Biology Professor James Foster is the chair of R-MC’s pre-med advisory committee and advisor to the college’s pre-health society. In this video, Foster discusses how R-MC’s pre-med program is designed to provide students with the supervision, support, curriculum, and clinical experiences they need to be accepted into medical school.
As part of its Early Selection Program, R-MC has partnerships with three regional medical schools. A BS/MD joint degree agreement between Randolph-Macon College and Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) allows as many as four qualified R-MC students to receive guaranteed admission to EVMS. An Early Selection Program agreement with the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences will give qualified, second-year students the opportunity to gain a provisional acceptance to the medical school at George Washington. Additionally, a Preferred Applicant Track Agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) will accept two qualified, second-year students annually. Accepted R-MC students who maintain a 3.5 overall GPA and a 3.4 science GPA, and are in good academic and professional standing, will receive a formal offer of admission to the VCU School of Medicine.
