Randolph-Macon College’s Franklin Debating Society will host the touring champion British debaters on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Washington Room of Washington-Franklin Hall, located on R-MC’s historic campus.
R-MC students

Hayley Williamson ’13 will debate against the world-famous British debaters on the topic Be It Resolved That – social networking media have proven more beneficial than costly. The annual Parliamentary-style debate is an entertaining and provocative event, and audience participation is encouraged.
The British debaters’ visit to R-MC is made possible by the generous support of R-MC's Phi Beta Kappa chapter and its benefactors, Anita S. and John B. Werner ’53.
R-MC Professor Ted Sheckels, the A.G. Ingram Professor of English, coaches the
Franklin Debating Society students. Sheckels is a communication studies and English professor and the director of speaking for the Higgins Academic Center. Sheckels is assisted by part-time communication studies instructor John Mingus.
