R-MC English Professor Amy Goodwin (not pictured) called the trip
"a smashing success."
R-MC alumni, faculty and students attended the April 30, 2011 performance of “Cyrano
de Bergerac” at the Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C.
“Cyrano de Bergerac” is a romance of 17th-century France that centers on a fascinating
and poignant love triangle. Cyrano secretly adores Roxanne but fears she could never
share the sentiment because of his legendary nose. Instead, he uses his gift for
wit and wordplay to help his tongue-tied friend Christian woo her.
This was the first Beverly Randolph Carter Trip to the Folger Center. The trip was
sponsored by the Randolph-Macon College English Department
and supported by a gift from the late Beverly Randolph Carter III '57.
