Roughly 186 volunteers worked a combined 558 hours. Volunteers joined forces as they spread mulch, planted flowers, cleaned up trash and more.
Macon a Difference Day was created in 2006, and each year, participation has increased. This year, R-MC collaborated with The Hanover County Department of Community Resources on their annual Global Youth Service Day. For the fourth consecutive year, Hanover County was selected by Youth Service America to serve as one of 79 Global Youth Service Day Lead Agencies throughout the nation. Celebrated in over 100 countries, Global Youth Service Day is a world-wide event that mobilizes millions of young people to improve their communities through service and service-learning.
The following campus organizations collaborated to make the day a success: Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Omega, Brothers For Change, Campus Events Committee, Campus Ministries Council, Delta Zeta, R-MC Habitat for Humanity, Inter Fraternity Council, International Interest Group, Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Alpha Theta, Phi Kappa Sigma, RA Staff, Randolph-Macon Artists and Writers Residence Hall Association, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Student Government Association, Theta Chi.
