A day full of dancing, music, games, food and entertainment made up the 2011 Dance Marathon at Randolph-Macon College. The fundraiser took place on Saturday, April 9, 2011 in the Brock Sports and Recreation Center, and there were plenty of activities for children and families, including an inflatable obstacle course and jumper.
Dance Marathon is a student run, non-stop event. The goal is to raise money that will provide research, treatment, equipment and education for children who suffer from terminal illness, serious disease, birth defects and severe trauma. Money raised at Randolph-Macon will go to the Children’s Miracle Network Richmond in support of Children’s Hospital of Richmond.
Dance Marathon began at Randolph-Macon College in 2001 and has raised more than $150,000. This year’s event also included testimonials from children and families who directly benefit from monies raised through Dance Marathon. Additionally, each hour featured different music, with the "morale dance" performed every hour on the hour.
