On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, Randolph-Macon College will host guest lecturer Robin Payne, who will present “In a Just Society, Would We Need Love? Second-Wave Feminisms and the Politics of Romantic Love.” The lecture will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Washington Room of Washington-Franklin Hall.
This event is free and open to the public.
Payne, a visiting professor of history at West Carolina University, will explore how second-wave feminists understood the problem of romantic love and politicized that emotion in their struggle toward gender equality in post-WWII America.
This lecture is part four of the “Edgy Women” series and is sponsored by R-MC’s
First-Year Experience program,
honors program, and departments of
history,
art history,
sociology,
women’s studies and
political science. It is also sponsored by the Committee on Assemblies and Special Events (CASE).
