Professor Virginia Scharff |
Randolph-Macon College will host guest lecturer Virginia Scharff on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 as part of its “Edgy Women” series. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Topping Room in Old Chapel (Room 212).
This event is free and open to the public.
Scharff will present “The Women Jefferson Loved” as she takes a new look at the life of Thomas Jefferson as seen through the lives of the women he loved. She will discuss the lives of Jefferson’s mother, wife, slave mistress, daughters and granddaughters to reveal how they shaped his life and vision for the nation.
Scharff is a professor of history and director of the Center for the Southwest at the University of New Mexico.
