R-MC celebrated International Education Week (IEW) November 15-19, 2010. This annual event is designed to help the R-MC community explore their cross-cultural competency as global citizens. This year’s theme was “Striving for a Sustainable Future.”
Each year,
R-MC’s Office of International Education (OIE) partners with other departments and with student organizations that are interested in hosting or co-sponsoring activities.
This year, students participated in a wide variety of activities, from sampling international foods to testing their language skills.
In addition,
Goksan Gungordu '14, who hails from Turkey,
was presented with the World Scholars Award. Gungordu graduated from Red Cross Nordic United World College. He is R-MC’s second recruit from the prestigious Davis United World College Scholars Program, which provides scholarships to students from around the world to attend American colleges and universities. R-MC is one of only four Virginia colleges to become a member of the Davis Scholars program.
