In the 2009-2010 academic year, Randolph-Macon College raised more than $6.8 million dollars—a great achievement in this economic climate. Also noteworthy, the Annual Fund surpassed last year and set a new Randolph-Macon record by raising $1,178,668.
Special thanks are in order for John ’79 and Cindy ’81 Lee who agreed to match every donation made in the month of June with a $25 gift of their own up to $25,000. It is with excitement that the College announces that the Lee’s entire $25,000 Challenge has been met.
With the help of the Lee’s Challenge, alumni participation increased again, reaching 35%, which outpaced last year’s participation rate of 33%. This is the highest alumni giving participation rate seen in the past ten years at Randolph-Macon.
"We are grateful for the tremendous support we continue to witness,” said R-MC President Robert R. Lindgren. “This level of generosity is unique among higher education giving campaigns, especially with the current economic climate.”
The 2010 Senior Class did their part too, setting a new senior class gift campaign record of 80% participation.
During what continues to be a challenging economic environment, the College met its fundraising goals, the most remarkable being its increase in alumni participation. All donations to the Annual Fund were used for financial aid support for deserving R-MC students. Other gift designations included endowed professorships, renovations to facilities on campus, endowed scholarships, and construction funds for new athletic facilities. This fundraising success would not have been possible without the great generosity of all Randolph-Macon College’s supporters.
