Randolph-Macon College President Robert R. Lindgren is pleased to announce the tenure and/or promotion of 11 faculty members who were approved during the spring meeting of the R-MC Board of Trustees.
“These exceptional faculty members are truly deserving of this formal recognition of their talent, scholarship and dedication,” said Lindgren. “I join the Randolph-Macon College community in congratulating and thanking them for their outstanding contributions.”
The following professors have earned tenure and promotion to Associate Professor: María José Bordera-Amérigo, assistant professor of Spanish, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 2004. Bordera-Amérigo earned her B.A. from the Universidad de Alicante and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Nora S. Green, assistant professor of chemistry, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 2004. Green earned her B.S. from Eckerd College and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Susan W. Parker, assistant professor of psychology, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 2004. Parker earned her B.A. from the University of Richmond and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
Traci L. Stevens, assistant professor of biology, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 2004. Stevens earned her B.S. from the University of Northern Iowa and her Ph.D. from Washington University.
Sandrine F. Teixidor, assistant professor of French, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 2004. Teixidor earned her M.A. from Ohio University and her Ph.D. from Duke University.
The following faculty members have been promoted from Associate Professor to Full Professor:
Lauren Cohen Bell, associate dean of the college and associate professor of political science, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1999. Bell earned her B.A. from the College of Wooster, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma.
James M. Doering, associate professor of music, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1999. Doering earned his B.M. from The College of Wooster, his M.M. from the University of North Carolina and his Ph.D. from Washington University.
Michael S. Fenster, associate professor of geology and environmental studies, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1995. Fenster earned his B.S. and MS. from the University of Mississippi and his Ph.D. from Boston University.
Mark R. Malin, associate professor of Spanish, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1997. Malin earned his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.
Adrian C. Rice, associate professor of mathematics, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1999. Rice earned his B.S. from University College, London, his M.S. from King’s College, London and his Ph.D. from Middlesex University.
Deonna F. Woolard, associate professor of physics, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1999. Woolard earned her B.S. from Bethany College, and her M.S. and Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary.
Additionally, at its February 2010 meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to grant Professor Emeritus status upon retirement to the following:
Michael G. Wessells, professor of psychology, joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon College in 1981. Wessells earned his B.A. from Roanoke College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts.
