The Randolph-Macon College Office of Student Life and Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society (Alpha Lambda Circle) hosted the 5th annual Student Leadership Awards on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Blackwell Auditorium. The awards honor student leaders of Randolph-Macon College who have worked to contribute to the college through their hard work, dedication and inspirational leadership.
“Randolph-Macon College is an involvement-based campus,” says Director of Student Life Shalise Bates-Pratt. “Students make the most of their time here when they get engaged in their academics as well as in activities outside of the classroom. The Student Leadership Awards presentation is an opportunity to honor those student leaders and organizations that have chosen that path, and have excelled. These students and the activities and learning experiences that they create together are the cornerstone of the college experience.”
The following awards were presented: Senior Leaders •
David Brooks ’10 is a chemistry and biology major. He has been very active on campus, serving as 2009-2010 president of his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order, and 2009-2010 chair of the newly-formed Campus Events Committee of the Student Government Association. Brooks also found time to get involved in other campus commitments, including the College Council Committee of the Faculty and the College Choir. He also received the 2009-10 Fraternity President of the Year Award.

Tia Bryant ’10 is a sociology major who has been an active member of the Cheerleading Team, Habitat for Humanity, the Remix Dance Team, Alpha Phi Omega and the Ujima Gospel Choir. Bryant has also served in various leadership roles during her time on campus, including serving as former president of the Residence Hall Association, a Resident Assistant, and a delegate in the Student Government Association. Bryant also serves as the Student Diversity Programs Assistant in the Office of Student Life.
Student Organization of the Year
• The Student Government Association (SGA) has always been a staple of student co-curricular life on campus, but many have noticed resurgence in the SGA’s passion and sense of purpose. The SGA provides a liaison between students and the college administration and works daily to make life better for students on campus. Also, due to recent reorganization efforts, the SGA also serves as an umbrella organization for the Campus Events Committee, the Residence Hall Association, the class boards and the Commuter Student Association, and it assists in the administration of student organizations.

• Members of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Leadership Honor Society & Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honor Society
• Who’s Who Among American College and University Students—approximately 50 R-MC students were honored for this nationally known and highly regarded award. Recipients represent the top 10% of the senior class in academics and top 2% of the junior class in academics.
• Omicron Delta Kappa Community Leader Award—Jordan Huber ’10
• Unsung Heroes Individual Award—Alexandra Brown ‘11, Shaunyce “Diva” Washington ’10, Kenneth White ’12, Whitney Edwards ’11 and staff member Sarah Hamby, Student Life operations coordinator
• First-Year Emerging Leaders—Chandler Weston ’13 and Erica Waters ’13
• Second-Year Emerging Leaders—John Coleman ’12 and Ellie Shea ’12
• Junior Leaders—Savino Padrone ’11 and Leah Gregory ’11
