Austin Faulkner '11: "I could not be happier with my collegiate career." |
“I came to Randolph-Macon College because when I visited the campus I really enjoyed the small community and felt it was the best choice for me in terms of academics and athletics,” says
Austin Faulkner ’11. “I thought that I would be a good fit in the R-MC football program and I felt that a liberal arts education would make me a well-rounded person.”
The business/economic major hails from Fredericksburg, Virginia and holds a minor in German. “I decided on German as a minor because I enjoyed taking it in high school and I thought that it just made sense to continue taking classes in a subject that I enjoyed.
Deutsch ist die beste Sprache zu lernen! (German is the best language to learn!)”

The quarterback has been a member of R-MC’s football team since 2006. “I have been playing football since I was nine,” says Faulkner. “I love playing college football because you form a close bond with the other guys, which does not happen in any other situation, and also because every game has a huge bearing on whether the season is successful or not. You must be on top of your game at every moment to be a great team, and I enjoy that challenge.”
When he’s not on the football field, Faulkner divides his time between the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and R-MC community events such as the Dance Marathon. “I have participated in the Dance Marathon every year since 2007, by helping to raise money and attending the daylong event in the Brock Center,” he says. In addition, Faulkner has participated in Relay for Life by helping to raise money and walking the track during the event.
Faulkner has been the recipient of many awards during his career at R-MC. He has been on the Dean’s List; he made the Academic All-Conference list; he was an All-Conference Quarterback; and, along with his teammates, he was declared an ODAC Conference Champion in 2008.
Faulkner is currently participating in an internship at Cobb Technologies, a leading office equipment dealer in Richmond, Virginia. “An internship gives you valuable, real-world experience,” says Faulkner. He plans on attending graduate school after R-MC to study business management or law. “I can honestly say that coming to R-MC was the best decision I could have made,” he says. “I could not be happier with my collegiate career and I am thankful that everything has worked so well.”
