A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of four-year-old Charlotte J. Reynolds on the Randolph-Macon College campus on
Saturday, January 16 at 1:00 p.m. in Blackwell Auditorium,
located in the R-MC Center for the Performing Arts. A reception following the service will be held in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, located next to the auditorium. Children’s activities and childcare will also be available during the service and reception in Duncan. Signage will be posted throughout the R-MC campus to direct visitors to designated parking areas; street parking is also an option where available.
Charlotte was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in January 2009. With the support of her loving parents, Rachel and Roger Reynolds, she fought a brave fight but lost her battle to cancer on January 7, 2010. Roger Reynolds taught music at Randolph-Macon from 2000-2008 and his family has been an integral part of the Randolph-Macon community since.
Throughout the last year, the Reynolds have posted a blog, chronicling Charlotte’s journey, which has received thousands of visitors from throughout the world. Recently, they launched the “CJ’s Thumbs Up Foundation,” to provide support to families of children with chronic, life-threatening illnesses. This site contains information on Charlotte’s life, as well as details on the memorial service, which will be streamed live on their website at:
www.cjstuf.org The Reynolds family is asking guests attending the service to wear Charlotte’s favorite colors, pink and purple, in her honor.
