Author Anna Jane Grossman |
Author and Journalist Anna Jane Grossman will read from her recent book,
Obsolete: An Encyclopedia of Once-common Things Passing Us By (Abrams Image, 2009) on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.
The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Writing Center, located on the second floor of the Randolph-Macon College Mc-Graw Page Library. Grossman, a New York-based freelance writer who specializes in lifestyle and entertainment features, will talk about her experience as a writer and share tips on how to get published. Grossman has been published in dozens of publications, including
The New York Times,
Salon.com,
The Associated Press,
Elle,
New York Magazine,
Marie Claire and
Fortune. Formerly a staff reporter at both
The New York Observer and
The New York Post, Grossman was the founding editor of MasterCard's online magazine,
Priceless.com. She is also the co-author of
It’s Not Me, It’s You (Da Capo Press, 2006).
Grossman’s appearance at Randolph-Macon is sponsored by the R-MC Writing Center. In addition to helping students improve as writers, the Center sponsors writing events, speakers and contests.
