H-SC vs. R-MC Football Game 2008 |
The oldest small-college football rivalry in the south comes to Randolph-Macon College on November 14, 2009 when the Yellow Jackets meet the Hampden-Sydney Tigers on the gridiron. This is a rivalry that dates back to 1893 and has been well-publicized by local and national media. An exciting and spirit-filled week has been planned at R-MC leading up to the big game. Everyone is invited to help cheer on the Yellow Jacket football team. In addition, participation helps our students in their quest for the Tiger – Yellow Jacket cup. It’s an annual competition between the two schools where the winning campus keeps the cup for the entire year. Last year, R-MC won the cup and hopes to retain it with your help. Blood Drive: The blood drive is back! Virginia Blood Services will be in the Brown Campus Center on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 and Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please come donate blood! The blood drive is co-sponsored by the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Order for their philanthropy - Operation Crimson Gift. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members can donate blood. Contact Whitney Edwards at reginaedwards@students.rmc.edu to make an appointment. Remember to donate blood and save a life!
Coin Drive: The coin drive will begin on Sunday, November 8, 2009 and end on Friday, November 14, 2009. The donations will go to this year’s charity, R-MC’s Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. This is a competition between R-MC and H-SC. There will be a donation center located inside the Bookstore in the Brown Campus Center.
RHA Turkey Bowl:
BRING YOUR CANNED FOOD! Come out to Fountain Plaza on Tuesday, November 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to participate in the Turkey Bowl. There will be a LIVE turkey! This is a competition to see which residence hall can collecting the most cans, and the public is asked to please help in this effort. All you need to do is bring out some canned food items to participate. Come out and bowl and support the Residence Hall Association and the Ashland Community. This program is co-sponsored by the Residence Hall Association.
R-MC vs. H-SC Debate: Come out and support the R-MC Franklin Debating Society while they compete against H-SC! The Debate will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Washington-Franklin Hall and the topic is Be It Resolved That: The Nobel Peace Prize is irrelevant. R-MC will be opposing this motion. There will be a portion of the debate open to crowd interaction, so come out, participate and cheer R-MC on to a VICTORY!
Lemon and Black Day: On Friday, November 13, 2009 everyone should dress up in Lemon and Black clothes in honor of school spirit and to get ready for the football game on Saturday. So get dressed up and have fun!
Hampden-Sydney Week Concert featuring Three Legged Fox and Mambo Sauce: Saturday, November 14, 2009 7:00 p.m. at the Brock Center is the concert to end all concerts for the fall of 2009. Mambo Sauce will perform live on stage, including their hit song, Welcome to DC, which is played at all NBA Washington Wizards games. Opening for Mambo Sauce will be the popular campus favorite Three Legged Fox. Tickets for general public are $4.00 at the door.
