Details of Events
Trashcan Decorating:
This program will be held on Sunday, November 8th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Fountain
Plaza. This event is to decorate trashcans through a contest between organizations
and then display them around campus to show our Macon spirit! Let’s work together
and Trash the Tigers! The winning trashcan will be displayed at the fountain! We
only have a few cans, so it is first come, first serve!
Blood Drive:
The blood drive is back! Virginia Blood Services will be here on Tuesday, November
10th and Wednesday, November 11th in the Campus Center from 12:00pm – 6:00pm both
days. Please come help donate blood!! The blood drive will be co-sponsored by the
Brothers of Kappa Alpha Order for their philanthropy - Operation Crimson Gift. Students,
faculty, staff, alumni and community members can donate blood. Signups will be taking
place in Estes the week before H-SC Week or you can contact Whitney Edwards at reginaedwards@students.rmc.edu.
Remember to donate blood and save a life!!
Banner Competition:
The banner competition will continue this year. As usual, the banners will
be hung in the Campus Center throughout Hampden-Sydney Week. Each organization can
decorate a banner. One twin white flat sheet will be provided for each organization
to decorate their materials. Sheets will be available for pick up on Monday, November
9th from 8:30am – 5:00pm in the Hive. When you pick up a sheet, you must sign off
which organization you are representing. Banners will be due on Wednesday, November
11th from 8:30am – 5:00pm in the Hive. Banners should incorporate the theme for
this year – Can’t Kill Our Buzz! Also, Banners which are deemed in appropriate by
the sophomore Class Board will not be hung. Please use careful consideration of
what is appropriate when decorating.
Coin Drive:
The coin drive will begin on Sunday, November 8th and end on Friday, November
14th. SGA officers, as well as members of the Sophomore Class Board, and Habitat
for Humanity, will be going around collecting change to support this year’s charity:
R-MC’s Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. This is a competition between R-MC and H-SC.
There will also be a central donation center this year located inside the Bookstore
in the Campus Center, so just in case you cannot find a SGA officer feel free to
bring all your change there!
Dodgeball Tournament:
On Wednesday, November 11th, in the Brock, student organizations can compete against
one another in some good old-fashioned Dodge ball! Organizations can sign up as
a team, or individuals can sign up and be placed on their class’ team. There will
be a Registration Fee of $1 per person, and Teams can be no larger than 10 people.
All proceeds will go towards R-MC’s Relay For Life. For questions or if you want
to sign up individually, please contact Whitney Edwards at reginaedwards@students.rmc.edu.
Relay for Life supports the American Cancer Society.
Lemon and Black Day:
On Friday, November 13th, everyone should dress up in there Lemon and Black in honor
of school spirit and to get ready for the football game on Saturday. So get dressed
up and have fun!
Powder-Puff Game:
Get ready ladies, powder-puff is back! The game will have the same format as usual.
The freshman and sophomores will play against each other and the junior and seniors
will play against each other. The winning team of each game will play for the championship.
There will be two football players from each class assigned to coach their respective
class. The refereeing will be conducted by football players as well. Each year,
the title is up for grabs. The game will be held on Thursday, November 12th at 7:00pm
on the Practice Field. The rain/cold weather location will be the Brock Center.
We encourage teams to practice and even make uniforms prior to the game. If interested
in participating in powder-puff game, please check the box on the last page for
powder-puff and list the names and class of each interested participant. For questions

Field Goal Kick Competition:
During halftime of the powder-puff game on Thursday, November 12th at 7:00pm,
the field goal kick competition will take place to decide who will represent R-MC
at the football game on Saturday. If you win on Thursday, you will need to attend
the game to represent R-MC and kick. The winner of Saturday’s competition will receive
1 point for their College for the Tiger-Yellow Jacket Cup. If you are interested
in participating in the field goal kick competition, please check the box on the
last page list the names of each interested participant. For questions or if you

Pep Rally and Band:
This year the Pep Rally is an old-school, all out spirited event which will get
everyone excited to beat Hampden-Sydney!!! The event will be held on Friday, November
13th in the Mary Branch Courtyard. The Pep Rally will begin with the band - Brother
Lucy playing at 6pm, followed by the pep rally starting at 7:00pm with the Wing
Eating Contest and then there will be performances by the Cheerleaders, the Dance
Remix Team, and more. During the Pep Rally every R-MC athletic team will be recognized.
Afterwards, Brother Lucy will play until 10pm. We hope to bring all the organizations
together and get the R-MC Football Team pumped up to play on Saturday! There will
also be Yell Like Hell during the event. Also, Delta Zeta will be selling Hampden-Sydney
t-shirts at the Pep Rally. This event is being co-sponsored by the Resident Assistants
and the Office of Residence Life and Housing.
Yell Like Hell:
Yell Like Hell is a competition between organizations in which they prepare a song,
cheer or performance. Each group gets 2 minutes to perform during the Pep Rally.
Groups will be judged and the winner will receive the R-MC Spirit Stick. So get
your organizations and come to cheer!
Wing Eating Contest:
The annual wing eating contest is back! The contest will be on Friday, November
14th at 7:00pm during the Pep Rally. We are asking each organization to nominate
one member to represent them. Come eat and cheer on your representative! This event
is co-sponsored by Chartwells.
Car Bash:
The Car Bash will be held on Friday, November 13th from 12:00pm until the Pep Rally
outside of the Campus Center near Conrad. The cost of participating in the Car Bash
is $1 for 3 hits. All proceeds will go towards R-MC’s Dance Marathon! Dance Marathon
is a continuous, multi-hour event on college campuses. It is a culmination of dancing,
music, games, food, and a variety of entertainment for one purpose - to raise money
for Children's Hospital and VCU Health Systems' Children's Medical Center. This
program is being co-sponsored by Dance Marathon.
RHA Turkey Bowl:
BRING YOUR CANNED FOOD! Come out to Fountain Plaza on Tuesday, November 10th from
11:00am – 4:00pm to participate in the Turkey Bowl. There will be a LIVE turkey!
This is a hall competition, but anyone can participate. Each residence hall (by
RA) can compete by collecting the most cans. All you need to do is bring out some
canned food items to participate. The hall that brings the most wins t-shirts. Come
out and bowl and support Residence Hall Association and the Ashland Community. This
program is being co-sponsored by the Residence Hall Association.
Debate:
Come out and support the R-MC debate team while they compete for a point towards
the Tiger-Yellow Jacket Cup, against H-SC! The Debate will be held on Monday, November
9th at 7:00pm in Washington-Franklin Hall. There will be a portion of the debate
for crowd interaction, so come out, participate, and cheer Macon onto a VICTORY!!
Buzz Killers:
Can't Kill Our Buzz…or everything you need to know if you plan to be 21 someday!
This interactive event will give you lots of practical knowledge about alcohol,
its effects and your interactions with it. Think of it as "Driver's Ed" for anyone
who plans to be 21 and use alcohol responsibly. It will also give you a chance to
find out how much you already know! Come out on Tuesday, November 10th from 7:30pm
– 8:30pm in the Campus Center. This program being co-sponsored by Office for Alcohol
and Drug Prevention.
