The Ashland Police Department partnered with the Randolph-Macon College Emergency Response Team to conduct an emergency systems training exercise on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The purpose of the exercise was to afford first responders the opportunity to engage in realistic training to ensure the safety of Ashland residents and the R-MC community in the event of an actual emergency.
"The exercise was successful and provided a valuable learning experience for everyone who participated," said R-MC Dean of Students, Grant Azdell, who also oversees safety training at the College. "This was an important exercise for the college to conduct to help ensure that our Emergency Response Team is familiar with policies put in place to help protect our students and campus community."
In the coming weeks, Randolph-Macon and our law enforcement partners will review outcomes of this exercise to identify and implement any improvements to their current protocols.
