Laura Eister '09 performs Neverending
|
Randolph-Macon College alumna
Laura Eister '09 of Williamsport, Pennsylvania found a creative way to express how she feels about R-MC. A talented musician, Eister wrote a song that she calls "Neverending." She was asked to perform the song before her classmates and their families during the
college’s 2009 Baccalaureate service.
“I was inspired to write this song once I realized just how much R-MC means to me,” Eister said, “I really enjoyed the close connection to professors and the small-school experience at R-MC.” Eister says she didn’t have a hard time deciding to enroll at R-MC. Her father (Ronald ’75), brother (Ronald Jr. ’06) and sister (Sarah ’07) are all alumni.
Eister has been playing the piano since she was eight years old and began writing her own songs while a senior in high school. Her first experience in a recording booth was during her last semester at R-MC, when she enrolled in Introduction to Recording Techniques, taught by Professors Roland Karnatz and Chris Ryder. She received hands-on training with Bill McElroy at Slipped Disc Audio and Recording Studio in Ashland, Virginia and was able to professionally record three of her songs, including "Neverending."
Eister graduated from R-MC with a B.A. in
philosophy and a minor in
Asian studies.

Title: Neverending Laura Eister: Piano and Voice Dre McLaughlin: Drums
VERSE 1:
Mark my words, I solemn swear This place can take you anywhere, You have planned to go.
Some just came and some will leave, When we are here, we all are free, But nothing stays the same…
Except Washfrank, Marybranch hall, The Ghosts exist whether they fall, And the story goes, never end the story goes.
CHORUS: And now the days have led, To this winding road, Filled with many ways we could go, So take with you, your knowledge wisdom and your might, Everything we’ve learned with time.
VERSE 2:
Center of the Universe, Here we are thanks to life’s sweet course Soaked in Bravery, with things that are to be,
Unsure of what path will succeed, We must have faith, we must proceed, Together, we won’t fall.
And even though we might be scared, No one can take what we have shared, Engraved in memory, this time remains to be.
CHORUS: And now the days have led, To the winding road, Filled with many ways we could go, So take with you, your knowledge wisdom and your might, Everything we’ve learned with time.
End: Different ways that we will go, Tonight’s goodbye is only so We can explore the world with open minds, Meet up, celebrate good times.
