Randolph-Macon College will confer Bachelor degrees to seniors during its Commencement ceremony on
Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the R-MC Frank E. Brown Fountain Plaza on Henry Street. The Commencement speaker will be the Honorable Dr. Thomas R. Morris, Virginia Secretary of Education. Prior to his appointment, Morris served as President of Emory & Henry College in southwest Virginia for more than 13 years and was a celebrated faculty member at the University of Richmond for 21 years.
Honorary degrees will be awarded to four distinguished leaders in education, government, business and the arts. Former chair of the Randolph-Macon Board of Trustees, Macon F. Brock, Jr. ’64 and his wife Joan P. Brock will both receive the Honorary Doctor of Laws degree; the Honorable James W. Dyke, Jr. will receive the Honorary Doctor of Laws degree; and Randolph-Macon Professor Emerita B.J. Seymour will receive the Honorary Degree Doctor of Humanities (in absentia).
The senior speaker will be Joel Bolton of Rockville, Maryland. Bolton is a psychology major who has been recognized by his fellow classmates as a leader and for his significant contributions and ability to inspire positive change on campus. After graduation, he plans to further his studies in social psychology.

In the event of rain, commencement will be held in the Randolph-Macon Brock Recreation Center, located at 400 N. Center Street, at 10 a.m.
