Leslie Hainley '09: a true athlete-scholar |
Randolph-Macon College senior Leslie Hainley will graduate on May 30, 2009, but she has already used her psychology and philosophy majors to obtain admission into one of the most competitive doctoral programs in her field. At R-MC, she’s been helping the Yellow Jacket women’s tennis team post a winning record for the second consecutive season. Hainley has registered a 5-1 record at fourth singles on the court.
In addition to her work in the classroom and on the tennis court, Hainley is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Chi Beta Phi and Psi Chi honors societies, as well as a member of Randolph-Macon’s Honors Program. She is also a member of the campus judicial board and the Women's Athletes Outreach organization. In the fall of 2007, Hainley earned the Douglas W. Foard Phi Beta Kappa Sophomore award.

After graduation, Hainley will attend the University of Maryland at College Park’s Neural and Cognitive Systems Doctoral Program while specializing in psychology. While working toward her doctorate, Hainley will study contextual memory in early childhood. “Randolph-Macon is a school that allows and encourages students to be active participants in labs, classes, organizations, as well as on the athletic fields,” says Hainley.
