Richmond Symphony Orchestra Guest Conductor Dorian Wilson |
On Sunday, February 8, 2009, The Richmond Symphony Orchestra returns to Randolph-Macon College for the third installment of its Haydn Festival Series, titled
Haydn & Mozart. Guest conductor Dorian Wilson will guide the musicians through works by Haydn such as
Overture to Andromeda and Perseus and
Symphony No. 43 in E-Flat Major “Mercury,” as well as Mozart’s
Symphony No. 41 in C Major “Jupiter.” The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will take place in Blackwell Auditorium in R-MC’s Center for the Performing Arts.
Wilson has conducted more than 100 orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic, the Orchestre National de France, the Russian National Symphony and the Tokyo Symphony. Maestro Wilson studied at Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Michigan and the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna.
Admission at the door: $27 for adults, $24 for seniors, $10 for children and $5 for students with valid college ID. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For advance ticket sales, call the Richmond Symphony Box Office at (804) 788-1212.
