R-MC Swimming Tops Greensboro 121-55 on Senior Day

ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon swimming team won 10-of-11 events en-route to 121-55 home victory over Greensboro College on Senior Day.
Kellianne Mullin and Corinne Campbell each won three events, while Marlene Graf, Hallie Stewart, Shafer Busch, and Sarah Almond added two wins apiece. Mullin and Lara O’Brien set new pool and school records in the 200 breaststroke and 1000 freestyle, respectively.
Mullin set her school and pool records in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:29.54. She also won the 200 IM in 2:18.40 and was part of the winning 400 medley relay team. O’Brien set her new school and pool record in the 1000 freestyle in 10:56.55. She was second to Mullin in both the 200 IM and 200 breast. Campbell won the 200 butterfly in 2:14.71 (narrowly missing her own school record performance), the 500 freestyle in 5:34.81, and was part of the winning 400 medley relay team.
Prior to the meet, R-MC honored its three seniors Laura Belch, Schafer Busch and Meredith Walter for their contributions to the Yellow Jacket program.
Belch is a four time letter winner from Manassas, VA. Randolph-Macon has finished no lower than second at the ODAC Championships in Laura’s first three seasons, and she helped the program win its only team championship as a sophomore in 2007. She is an eleven-time conference finalist, and holds three Estes Aquatic Center pool records as a member of the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle relays.
Busch is a four-time letter winner from Virginia Beach, VA. In her first three seasons, Shafer has been a onference finalist on twenty-one occasions, a nine time All-ODAC selection, and a six time conference champion. She was also a part of the 2007 ODAC championship winning team as a sophomore. Shafer owns Estes Aquatic Center pool records in the 100 butterfly and as part of the 200 freestyle relay.
Walters is a two-time captain and four-time letter winner from Chester, VA. As a sophomore in 2007, Meredith helped the team win the only team conference championship in program history, and has helped Randolph-Macon to a 31-10 (19-3 ODAC) dual meet record to date. Meredith has also enjoyed individual success at the ODAC Championships, and is a seven-time conference finalist.
