Gregg Hillmar Associate Professor of Theatre |
Associate Professor of Theatre Gregg Hillmar recently demonstrated his extensive relationship with the professional theatre community. Hillmar was an invited presenter for the September unveiling of Nemetschek North America’s latest software, Vectorworks Spotlight. He was then invited to conduct workshops and demos in Baltimore, Maryland during the annual conference of the Chesapeake section of United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and in Las Vegas at LDI, the largest lighting and related industry convention in the United States.
Vectorworks is a standard design program, with extensive applications in theatrical lighting and stage design, as well as architecture, mechanical engineering and landscaping. Hillmar has maintained a strong relationship with the creators of Vectorworks Spotlight. He is a longtime beta tester of the software and his work is used extensively in sales and marketing materials for the product.
Hillmar earned a Bachelor’s degree in theatre from the University of Richmond and M.F.A. in theatrical design from the University of Texas at Austin. He joined the faculty at Randolph-Macon in 2002 and teaches classes on theatrical design, stage managing and general theatre. Hillmar is completing work on his first book, Light Plot Deconstructed which is scheduled for release in early 2009. His theatrical work—both at R-MC and professionally—can be seen on his Web site,
