Capitol Steps October 23, 2008 7:30 p.m. Crenshaw Gymnasium |
The Capitol Steps will bring their hilarious political satire to Randolph-Macon College just in time for Election 2008. The group will perform on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in R-MC’s Crenshaw Gymnasium. The Steps are keeping up with current events, and their new routines take sardonic aim at this year’s presidential candidates.
The comedy troupe has been together for more than 25 years. The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who were given the task of planning the entertainment for a Christmas party. They created song parodies and skits about people and events on Capitol Hill, and their shows became so popular that they traded their political careers for comedy.
The Capitol Steps have recorded 28 CDs, including their latest, Campaign and Suffering, which pokes fun at all the presidential hopefuls, as well as the Supreme Court. The CD also includes all-new Lirty Dies, the Steps’ trademark wordplay that is nothing short of hysterical. The group has performed for five U.S. Presidents and appeared on national programs including “Good Morning America,” “The Today Show,” “Inside Politics,” and NPR’S “All Things Considered.”
This event is part of the Randolph-Macon College Performing Arts Series and takes place during Homecoming Week. For more information, call 804-752-7213, 752-3146 or 752-7208. To purchase tickets, click on
