Randolph-Macon President Robert Lindgren has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater Richmond Chamber. His three year term runs from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2011.
The Greater Richmond Chamber elects its board members through ballots which are sent to its more than 2,000 members. This not-for-profit membership organization has been in existence since 1867 and works to make the Richmond region an ideal location for businesses to prosper. The Chamber’s vision is to be the organization where business and community turn for leadership and solutions. Responsibilities for board members include setting policy for the guidance of future action by the Chamber, establishing and evaluating program goals and priorities and securing resources to operate the organization.
Lindgren was sworn in as the 15th president of Randolph-Macon College in February 2006. Under his leadership, the college has seen an increase in both student and alumni engagement. Freshmen applications have doubled in the past three years, resulting in the College welcoming three of the largest incoming classes in its history and private support of Randolph-Macon has hit an all-time high during President Lindgren’s tenure. R-MC has earned a national reputation for exceptional faculty, an outstanding academic program and for making lifelong connections with students.
