Tabs Randolph-Macon as a “Team to Watch” in its Annual College Football Preview
ASHLAND, VA – The Sporting News recently tabbed Randolph-Macon College as a “Team to Watch” nationally in Division III. The company’s annual College Football Preview magazine is currently on sale on newsstands all over the country.
While the Yellow Jackets did not crack the Top-25 poll, it was among a handful of schools listed by Sporting News as a team that could have an impact on the national scene in 2008. R-MC was the lone school from the ODAC mentioned and just one of two from the state of Virginia.
Fifth-year head coach Pedro Arruza returns 72 letter winners, including seven starters on each side of the ball from a team that went 8-2 last season and finished in a tie for first-place in the ODAC. The Jackets return six all league performers from a season ago, including First-Team All-ODAC running back Zak Thornton who had 1, 591 yards on the ground in 2007.
Randolph-Macon opens up its season on September 6th at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
