Randolph-Macon College President Robert Lindgren and Provost William Johnston are pleased to announce the tenure of four faculty members who were approved during the spring meeting of the R-MC Board of Trustees.
“Each of these faculty members has earned this formal recognition by their peers and the college for their exceptional service, dedication and commitment to providing the highest quality education for our students,” said Provost Johnston. “I sincerely extend my heartiest congratulations to each of them.”
The following faculty have earned tenure :
Dr. Mine Eren, associate professor of German and Film, joined the R-MC faculty in the fall of 2002. Her teaching interests include post-war German society and culture, Germany’s immigration history, history of film, independent cinema and Women’s and Cultural Studies. Dr. Eren earned a master’s of arts degree from Ludwig-Maximilian Universität (Munich, Germany) and also from Brown University, where she also earned a Ph.D. in German Studies.
Gregg Hillmar, associate professor of arts and scenography and production, joined the faculty in 2002. He is supervisor of the design and technical production program and teaches courses in theatre, theatre technology and scenography, theatre design and stage management. Hillmar earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Richmond and a master’s of fine arts degree in theatrical design from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. April D. H. Marchetti, associate professor of chemistry, joined the faculty in fall of 2002. Her teaching interests include general, instrumental and analytical chemistry as well as chemistry and crime. Dr. Marchetti is an alumna of Randolph-Macon College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Evie Savidou-Terrono, associate professor of art history came to R-MC in 1990 as an adjunct lecturer and joined the full-time faculty in 2002. Her areas of specialization include nineteenth and early twentieth-century American art, nineteenth-century European art, renaissance art and classical and Byzantine archaeology. Dr. Terrono earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Crete (Greece) and a master’s of art from Queen’s College, as well as a master’s of philosophy and Ph.D. from The Graduate School and University Center, The City University of New York.
In addition to the tenure announcement, two faculty members received promotions. Dr. Eve Torrence, mathematics, and Dr. Virginia Young, Library Director, were named full professors.
