Blackwell Auditorium, R-MC's Center for the Performing Arts
Actor and author John Basinger brings poetry to life in this incredible dramatic
presentation. In 1993, he began committing to memory John Milton’s “Paradise Lost:
A Poem in Twelve Books.” He will share a selection from the epic work, as well as
other poetry and material he has written and performed throughout the country. Basinger
is professor emeritus of theatre and sign language at Three Rivers Community College
in Norwich, CT.
This performance is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by R-MC’S nationally
recognized First Year Experience (FYE) program.
FYE is a mandatory year-long, interdisciplinary course for all freshmen. Two professors,
from different disciplines, “team teach” this course to engage students and help
them understand the intersection between different subjects. During this course,
students improve writing, speaking, critical thinking and research skills that will
help them succeed for the next four years and throughout their lives. Students are
required to choose one of twelve courses offered. Click on FYE to learn more about
this unique program.
