An announcement concerning classes scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2009:
Due to the winter storm upon us and with highest attention to safety, I am asking
all instructors to use good judgment to decide whether or not their courses will
meet Monday, March 2—instructors have permission to cancel classes if they and/or
their students are not able to travel safely. Please send word to your students
as soon as possible via email of a decision to cancel. Students should assume that
their course is not canceled if they do not hear from the instructor.
Commuting students—those who are not campus residents and not within walking distance
of class—should call or email their instructors if they are not able to attend class
on Monday, March 2 due to the snow conditions. Instructors are permitted to grant
individual student excuses due to Monday’s weather-related absences only for commuting
students, who would then be responsible for making up any missed work as the instructor
directs. Any instructor who is not willing to grant an excuse when hearing from
a commuting student should notify the Provost's Office.
Please be safe as you travel and are outside for any reason.
