Kelly Lambert, Ph.D., receiveda resolution in her honor by the Virginia General Assembly
Kelly Lambert, Ph.D., the Macon and Joan Brock Professor of Psychology at Randolph-Macon College, was honored with a joint resolution by the Virginia General Assembly on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. House Joint Resolution No. 768 recognized Lambert for being named the 2008 Virginia Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The center aisle presentation was led by Delegate Frank Hargrove (R-55th District) with support by Delegate Chris Peace (R-97th District), Delegate Chris Jones’80 (R-76th District) and Delegate David Marsden’70 (D-41st District). Dr. Lambert’s family joined her during the presentation along with R-MC President Robert Lindgren and Provost William Johnston.
Dr. Lambert was presented with the distinguished Professor of the Year award during a luncheon and celebration reception in Washington, DC. CASE and the Carnegie Foundation have been partners in offering the awards since 1981. Dr. Lambert is among winners from 44 states, the District of Columbia and Guam. Recipients were selected from a pool of nominated faculty members from colleges and universities throughout the country.
Dr. Lambert earned her Bachelor’s degree from Samford University and her Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. She joined the faculty at R-MC in 1989 and is chair of the department of psychology and co-director of the Schapiro Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program. In 2007, she was awarded the Samuel Nelson Gray Distinguished Professor Award at R-MC and in 2001 she received the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award. In January 2009, she began a two-year term as president of the International Behavioral Neuroscience Society (IBNS).
