Facts About the R-MC Society of Alumni
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the Society of Alumni is comprised of 36 members (16 women, 20 men) from class years spanning 7 decades who are elected for staggered three-year terms. Members are expected to
(1) serve on a standing committee;
(2) be active ambassadors for student recruitment efforts;
(3) actively support initiatives associated with the Board's strategic priorities; and
(4) support the Annual Fund.
Executive Committee: John VanderSyde '85 (President), Whitney Forstner '98 (Vice President), Kate Viall Stottlemyer '99 (Secretary), Shelley Olds Burns '87 (Director-at-Large), Donna Klepper '75 (Director-at-Large), Graham Rashkind '96 (Director-at-Large), Charles Wornom '64 (Immediate Past President), Jim Bergdoll '57, Trey McCallie '93, Susan Draney Schick '84.
Purpose: Founded in 1839 to provide opportunities for alumni to participate in College programs; consult with and advise the administration and faculty; assist the College in maintaining a tradition of excellence in developing the mind & character of its students; & perpetuate the close relationships established during undergraduate years.
Standing Committees and Their Roles
1. Homecoming. To plan a fall event to allow alumni and friends to visit the campus and participate in activities which promote understanding of and closer ties to the College. (Caroline Kozonasky '01, Chair)
2. Nominating. To identify qualified alumni leaders for election to the Alumni Board and to nominate Board members to serve as officers and directors-at-large. (Susan Draney Schick '84, Chair)
3. Awards. To recognize alumni and friends of the College with the following awards: Distinguished Service Award; Distinguished Alumnus/a Award; Distinguished Friend Award; Honorary Alumnus/a Award; Young Alumnus/a Achievement Award; Faculty Service Certificate of Appreciation. 4. Student/Alumni Programs. To work with students to develop programs that serve student needs and strengthen the ties between the Society of Alumni and the student body. (Jaime Deafenbaugh Dunn '98, Chair)
5. Alumni Development. To develop support for the Annual Fund. (Trey McCallie '93, Chair)
