A record-setting group of more than 200 members of the Old Grads and Class of 1950 gathered on campus for their three-day reunion on May 26-28 during Commencement Weekend. Following a welcoming buffet lunch on Friday, alumni and their guests were treated to horse-drawn carriage rides around campus, guided "work in progress" tours of Old Chapel to view the renovation work taking place (complete with hard hats!), and a video-taped reminiscing session led by Purnell Bailey '42 in Washington & Franklin Hall. That evening the two groups gathered for a combined social hour and then divided for separate dinner programs.
The Old Grads enjoyed a candlelight dinner in the Butler Refectory of Estes Dining Hall complete with entertainment by the barbershop quartet "Pipe Dreams." Prizes were awarded to the following: Oscar Wooldridge '38 from Florida for traveling the greatest distance to come to the reunion; George Burruss '35 for having the youngest grandchild; Bob Peach '40 for having moved the most times (21 moves!); Mike Forrest '39 for having the oddest job since leaving R-MC; and A.S. "Shim" Forrest '32 for having attended the most Old Grads Reunions (18) and for being the Oldest Old Grad present (88)!
